5 Easy Steps To Explain How PV Solar Works. PV, or photovoltaic systems directly reduce both your energy bills and your carbon footprint. Switching to clean solar energy is good for your wallet and the environment.
Here at Solar Stream we believe there has never been a better time to install a solar-powered electrical system in your home, business, or farm. With rising costs in electricity and the solar grants that could be available to you there is never an easier time or more motivation to move some of your costs over to PV Solar. Read on to find out how PV solar works.
PV, or photovoltaic systems directly reduce both your energy bills and your carbon footprint. Switching to clean solar energy is good for your wallet and the environment.
Photovoltaics are best known as a method for generating electric power by using solar cells to convert energy from the sun into a flow of electrons by the photovoltaic effect. Solar cells produce direct current electricity from sunlight which can be used to power appliances, charge electric vehicles and more. See our illustration below for more information:
- Solar panels are mounted to your roof, or placed in your garden
- These are connected to the electrical appliances in your house
- The PV panels produce DC current from sunlight
- This is run through the Inverter to convert it to useable AC power
- This AC runs all of the home appliances or electric vehicle
If more power is ever required at any given time, it can be taken from the battery first, and only from the grid, as a last resort
